FULHAM OLD AND NEW
Fulham Palace is the former residence of the Bishop of London. A Tudor manor house with Georgian additions and a Victorian chapel, it has an impressive (though concealed) timber roof of 1495 in the Great Hall. Fulham Bridge was constructed in 1886 to replace the wooden bridge of 1729. From being a working class area in the first part of the twentieth century, Fulham has been transformed during the past 30 years into one of the most expensive parts of London. Do your wooden floors reflect this? Restoring a floor is a simple way to add value to your property - apart from the practical and aesthetic benefits of having a beautiful internal feature. Discard any preconceptions of inconvenience and a disruptive job. Call Floor Sanding Fulham today for a chat about the transformation of your property. |

Professional tips and tricks for perfect wood floor sanding
There's no doubt that tackling floor sanding yourself using dust free floor sanding equipment can mean a substantial saving over employing a professional floor sanding company. But if you really want to create sanded floors that look like they were done professionally, here are some tips and tricks of the trade that are designed to produce stunning results.
Don't skip your grits
Or if you must do it, only skip one. The point of using successively finer grits is to sand out the marks left by the previous grit you used - you start with a very coarse grit to quickly get rid of the old finish and then successively finer grits to get rid of the scratches left behind. Never go from 36 grit to 80 grit or you'll see sanding marks on the floor as you start to apply the poly. Instead, choose a sequence like 40-60-100 and stick to it.
Visit the pound shop
Keep your big sander working effortlessly with some supplies from the pound shop. A small can of compressed air will get into nooks and crannies you can't reach by any other method to blast dust out, and the end of a cheap metal skewer can clean out other troublesome areas without having to upend the machine. Disposable hair nets are brilliant for straining your poly to make sure it's contaminant free.
Raid your sports bag
Fed up with drips messing up your finish or dripping onto other floors in the house? Then raid your sports bag for a headband and position it round the tin about halfway up. If you can't find a headband a rag tied around the tin will do the job, too. It's a simple and highly effective way of catching drips.
Keep it clean
The first rule of successful sanding is to keep everything scrupulously clean, including yourself. Specks of dust, hairs and skin oils can all ruin the finish. Take a shower, wear a shower cap and gloves, vacuum continuously and use tack cloths to capture even the most minute particle of dust. Remember to send your pets to the kennels or friends to avoid pet hairs and paw prints spoiling your finish. However skilled you are at applying poly, it doesn't mean a thing if you don't keep it clean!
